Narendra Modi's Swearing-In Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan: details on when and where to watch live

On Sunday, June 9, at 7:15 pm, Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony, administered by President Droupadi Murmu, will be broadcasted live across the country on TV news channels and online platforms.

Live broadcast and attendees

The official announcement states, "The President will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at 7:15 pm on June 9, 2024, at Rashtrapati Bhavan." This event will be live-streamed on the YouTube channel and social media accounts of the President of India, as well as on public service broadcaster Doordarshan and various national TV channels.

President Murmu appointed Modi as the prime minister designate on Friday after BJP chief JP Nadda submitted a letter confirming Modi’s election as the leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party. Along with Modi, the new council of ministers under the NDA government will also take the oath on Sunday evening.

Senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and JP Nadda, have been consulting with allies such as N Chandrababu Naidu from the Telugu Desam Party, Nitish Kumar from JD(U), and Eknath Shinde from Shiv Sena to finalize their representation in the new government.

Cabinet announcements

The list of cabinet ministers will be announced by the newly-formed NDA government tomorrow. Leaders like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are expected to be part of the new Cabinet. Former chief ministers who have won the Lok Sabha polls, such as Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Basavaraj Bommai, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Sarbananda Sonowal, are strong contenders for joining the government.

Other potential members include Ram Mohan Naidu of the TDP, Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha, and Ram Nath Thakur of JD(U), and Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Sources suggest that either Lalan Singh or Sanjay Jha will be accommodated from the JD(U) quota.

The Delhi Police have enforced strict security measures for the ceremony, with multi-layered security arrangements, including paramilitary forces, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers around Rashtrapati Bhavan.
